Youth Ministry: 7th - 12th Grades

o    Youth Ministry happens at gathered events such as weekly youth group meetings and Mass, and also at other events such as sports events, youth work sites and all the various places we have interaction with young people  there are also opportunities for service, mission trips, conferences and youth rallies.

The Mission of St. John's Youth Ministry is:

"St. John the Apostle Youth Ministry works to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the faith community; and to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today." (from Renewing the Vision, USCCB)

The Components of Youth Ministry are:

Advocacy
Catechesis - Profession of the Sacraments and Life & Prayer in the Life of Faith
Community Life
Evangelization
Justice and Service
Leadership Development
Pastoral Care (relationship)
Prayer and Worship
Liturgy and Life

Youth Group is a series of gatherings through the school year.  Each grade has their own small group they meet with each week, but before they split off in small groups, we start as a large group and have Praise and Worship, opening prayer and ice-breakers.  The Confirmation classes meet in small groups as well.
