Preparing to Celebrate the Christian Funeral
The Christian funeral is a liturgical celebration of the Church. This liturgy is a communion between the deceased and those gathered for the funeral and thus proclaims the deceased’s new birth to eternal life. SJA provides extensive ministry to families on the occasion of the death of a loved one. Family participation in the planning of the funeral liturgy is encouraged.
Funeral Mass/Service
Please contact the pastor at 503-742-8207 to plan a funeral Mass service at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church & Cemetery for your loved one at your earliest convenience.
Funeral Receptions
The Funeral Reception Ministry is available to provide a luncheon for the family after the funeral service. The meal is usually held in the Parish Center, but it can be held in a nice facility at the cemetery for smaller groups. Volunteers are needed to set up, serve, clean up, and provide hospitality and comfort food for the reception.
St. John the Apostle Catholic Cemetery
St. John the Apostle Catholic Cemetery was blessed in the year 1877 by the late Monsignor Hillebrand, who was then the Pastor of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City. If you would like your loved one buried in the St. John the Apostle Catholic Cemetery....
