Mark Allen Mehlbrech Obituary

Obituary pending.

Mark Mehlbrech, a lifelong resident of Oregon City for 63 years passed away at his home on November 8, 2021 while doing what he loved – trimming his house for Christmas to celebrate his favorite time of year with family, friends and neighbors.

Mark was born on January 16, 1958 to John and Mary Mehlbrech of Oregon City, OR and attended public schools K-12 graduating OCHS in 1976. His favorite school was Gardner Jr. High and was so excited to see its new construction completed this year, but nothing pleased him more than a Friday night home football game and dance.

Listening to music, gardening, movies (with popcorn) and watching his Portland Trailblazers and Oregon Ducks were some of Mark’s favorite activities, but his #1 love was wood working. There was no hand-tool or power-tool Mark did not own, want or get. If it could shape, fasten or finish wood you could find it in Mark’s extensive workshop along with his favorite beverage, Coca Cola, and his trustee steed, John Deere.

Mark was born and raised Catholic and was confirmed at Saint John the Apostle in Oregon City where he and his mother, Mary attended weekly mass with family and friends. His favorite part of mass was the parish-social afterword to chat with people and enjoy a donut or two. Mark loved everything about traditions where people would congregate, celebrate and have a buffet, pot-luck or good old-fashioned party.

Mark is survived by his mother, Mary Mehlbrech of Oregon City, OR, his brother, Gene Mehlbrech of Spokane, WA, his sister and brother-in-law, Kim & Mike McNeel of Villa Hills, KY, his niece, Megan McNeel Hoppenjans of Villa Hills, KY and his three nephews, Brain McNeel of Portland, OR, Matt Mehlbrech of Spokane, WA, Rich Mehlbrech of Coeur d’ Alene, ID and his three great-nephews, Reid & Grey Hoppenjans and Fitz McNeel. Mark was proceeded by his father, John Mehlbrech and step-father Leo Mihm.
